RELEASE AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL CHAIR TANER KILIÇ
Chair of Amnesty International Turkey Taner Kılıç was detained on 6 June, wrongly accused of membership of the “Fethullahist Terrorist Organization”. On 9 June he has been remanded in pre-trial detention. The charges against him must be dropped and he must be released immediately and unconditionally.

PALESTINIAN ACTIVIST HELD IN ADMINISTRATIVE DETENTION IN ISRAEL
The Israeli district court in Jerusalem renewed Hasan Ghassan Ghaleb Safadi’s administrative detention for six months on 11 June. The Palestinian human rights defender has been detained since 1 May 2016.

DEFENDER AT RISK OF CONTINUED DETENTION IN EGYPT
South Banha prosecutor renewed on 18 June the detention for human rights defender Hanan Badr el-Din for 15 more days. The defender has been detained since 6 May, while the prosecutor investigates her on charges of belonging to a banned group.

28 MEN ARRESTED IN BANGLADESH, SUSPECTED OF BEING GAYBangladesh’s elite security forces arrested 28 young men on 19 May 2017 at a social event where more than 150 people were gathered and which is known to be frequented by members of the LGBTI community. They have been charged with drug possession and are all currently in detention where they remain at risk of torture and other ill-treatment.

DETAINED MALAGASY JOURNALIST NEEDS PROPER MEDICAL CARE
20 June 2017 Update: Fernand Cello, a Malagasy investigative journalist, faced charges after he was arrested on 5 May after exposing an illegal sapphire mining site. Since the efforts of the Amnesty International campaign, charges related to his journalism has been dropped and is receiving the medical care he needs.

FORCIBLY DISAPPEARED BAHRAINI FACES MILITARY TRIAL
On 9 May, Fadhel Sayed Abbas Hasan Radhi’s case has been transferred to a military court. Neither his family nor lawyer have been informed of the charges. Fadhel Sayed has been subjected to enforced disappearance since his arrest in September 2016, and since then remains at risk of torture and other ill treatment.

ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THREE TURKISH MEN EXTRADITED FROM MALAYSIA
Three Turkish men who had been arbitrarily arrested and detained in Malaysia between 2 and 4 May under anti-terrorism legislation were extradited to Turkey on 11 May. They are currently detained in Turkey and are at risk of further human rights violations, including torture and other ill-treatment.

THREE LAO ACTIVISTS SENTENCED TO PRISON IN SECRET TRIAL
Three Lao human rights activists, Soukan Chaithad, Somphone Phimmasone and Lodkham Thammavong, were sentenced up to 20 years in prison following a secret trial. Arrested and held incommunicado for over two months, they are prisoners of conscience and should be immediately and unconditionally released.

VENEZUELAN PRISONER, LEOPOLDO LÓPEZ, DENIED ACCESS TO HIS LAWYERS
Venezuelan prisoner of conscience, Leopoldo López, continues to be denied access to his lawyers since 8 April. Despite authorities allowing family visits since 7 May, they continue violating his right to a defense.
